3rd Annual Spring Fling
Landscapes-Endless Horizons
During this two-day creative adventure we'll break the barriers of what a landscape is "suppose to be". Starting subjectively, painting small quick warm-ups, you'll explore watercolor applications that retain the spontaneous beauty of the medium and experience the watercolor "tricks" that allow the medium to work for you. Learn how to retain the sunlight hitting leaves in the forest with masking fluid. Materials, colors, and application all have an effect on your painting-learn it here! Then, moving toward abstraction, you'll learn how to simplify shapes and use good design as we move on with acrylic on canvas. Embellish your landscapes with inventive collage techniques and materials including acrylic gels, tyvek, angelina, transfers, embossing, meta, and more.
All materials will be supplied. You may wish to bring any synthetic acrylic brushes you have and any collage materials you might wish to incorporate into your design. Bring a bag lunch and beverage.

Creative Collage Embellishments
How did they do that?
Mixed media collage is gaining popularity as an art form. There are a variety of techniques that seem elusive but are not difficult once you experience them. Whether your goal is a romantic collage or a completely abstract creation these techniques will open your eyes to a whole new world of embellishments. Try dyes and tea staining, age sanding, crackle, metallics, embossing, angelia, tyvek, stained paper, gels, and various ways of image transfers. All materials including a canvas board will be provided. Bring any old acrylic brushes you may have and a bag lunch and beverage.

With the popularity of mixed media arts and collage on the rise join us and discover many techniques to create your own collection of fun and funky papers to add to your work. Start by building your own mold and deckle. Then, using the same method discovered around 150 AD; we’ll use the mold, deckle, and lots of water to make traditional papers and plant papers. Try shaping and speckling, embedding or embossing; add flowers, foliage, and colored fibers to make unique and beautiful papers. Learn how to add your own watermark to your hand-made paper. You'll then create many beautiful papers using paste paint, marbling, and paints, both watercolor and acrylic. All materials included. Bring a bag lunch and beverage.
